Australia and New Zealand Collaborate to Support Film Industry Amid U.S. Tariff Announcement
Sydney: Australia and New Zealand announced on Monday their commitment to advocate for their film industries after U.S. President Donald Trump revealed a 100% tariff on films produced outside the country.
Australia’s Home Minister, Tony Burke, mentioned he had discussions with the head of Bodyscreen Australia regarding the proposed tariffs. “We will stand up clearly for the rights of Australia’s screen industry,” he stated.
New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, addressed the media, indicating that the government is awaiting more information about the tariffs. “We have to examine the specifics of what comes out. But we are definitely strong supporters of that field and champions of the industry,” he remarked.
