Sean Combs’ Sex Trafficking Trial Begins in NYC
Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently facing his sex trafficking trial in New York City. He is charged with five federal counts, which include sex trafficking and assault. These charges add to a long list of over 80 lawsuits alleging years of physical and emotional abuse throughout his complex career.
As of now, jury selection is in progress, which is expected to take about a week. The opening statements are set to start on May 12th, with the trial projected to continue for approximately 8 to 10 weeks. Combs has entered a plea of not guilty. If convicted, he could face a lengthy prison sentence of 15 years to life.
The trial is anticipated to be quite notable, especially since Combs’ former girlfriend, Cassandra Ventura, also known as Cassie, is likely to testify against him. She filed a significant lawsuit in 2023, claiming he subjected her to physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
Celebrity trials, like Gwyneth Paltrow’s skiing incident lawsuit in 2016, have drawn significant viewership in the past. That trial, for instance, reached nearly 30 million viewers across various platforms. Given Combs’ celebrity status, one can’t help but wonder how much attention this trial will attract.
Will P Diddy’s Trial be Live Streamed?
Unfortunately, there will be no live broadcasts or streams of the P Diddy trial. Federal courts prohibit any video recording or broadcasting, as per reports. However, for those interested, a documentary titled Didi’s Collapse is available. This three-part series on Investigation Discovery offers a closer look into the allegations against him and can be streamed on Max.
