In a troubling development, a second individual has been charged with second-degree murder following the tragic death of a well-known Super Bowl reporter who was covering major sporting events in New Orleans earlier this month.
Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old Telemundo Sports reporter from Missouri, was found dead in his hotel room at the Comfort Suite Hotel in Kenner, Louisiana. His death is believed to have been caused by a toxic mix of Xanax and alcohol. Authorities noted that he had “leaned his face down in a non-vivid pillow around his nose and mouth.”
The police arrested 45-year-old Danet Colbert just two days after Manzano’s body was discovered. Colbert has been referred to as the “Bourbon Street Hustler” on social media.
Colbert faces the same charge of second-degree murder. Another suspect, Ricky White, has also been taken into custody, with ties to various fraud cases and a simple robbery.
The Kenner Police Department revealed that White is now facing a second-degree murder charge related to Manzano’s death, although details on why this charge was added remain unclear. Detectives are said to have worked diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding the case.
Police Chief Keith Conley previously provided insight into the events leading up to Manzano’s death, detailing that he and Colbert had returned to their hotel in Kenner around 4:30 a.m. on February 5th. There is reportedly surveillance footage from the hotel lobby supporting this timeline.
While investigating the case, one of Manzano’s credit cards was found to be missing, prompting detectives to seek a search warrant for Colbert’s credit card records.
Colbert is also linked to other robberies in New Orleans and remains a suspect in an incident that resulted in another man’s death, which occurred in Las Vegas.
Chief Conley mentioned that this investigation might connect Colbert to another death in New Orleans last December, indicating that collaborations with the New Orleans Police Department, State Police, and the Attorney General’s Office are ongoing.
