Trump’s Tariffs Impacting Shoppers, Affordable Products ‘Crucial’ to the American Dream

On Monday, former Vice President Mike Pence expressed in an interview with CNN that the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump are detrimental to consumers seeking affordable products.

“I’m worried,” Pence remarked, adding that it feels as if the President is implementing broad tariffs against both allies and adversaries. He believes this administration isn’t focusing on countries that take advantage of trade relations, but rather pursuing a new industrial policy that ends up hurting consumers and, ultimately, the U.S. economy.

During the discussion, host Kaitlan Collins mentioned recent comments about children missing out because of reduced toy options. She inquired whether Pence thinks Americans would support that viewpoint.

Pence replied, “As a father of two grown daughters and a grandfather to three young granddaughters, I see the importance of keeping dolls reasonably priced; it’s truly part of the American dream. Recently, I commented that the Treasury Secretary doesn’t embody that dream. We should be open about this.”
