India Confirms Strikes on Nine Sites in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir
The Indian army has announced it conducted strikes on nine sites in Jammu and Kashmir, which are occupied by Pakistan. This operation is termed “Operation Sindoah.”
The Indian Army’s statement included the following:
Recently, we launched Operation Sindoah, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir that is aimed at attacking India.
A total of nine sites were targeted.
The Indian Army described the action as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” clarifying that Pakistani military facilities were not involved. They emphasized:
India has shown significant restraint in selecting and executing its targets.
This operation was said to be a response to a recent assault in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where many Indians lost their lives.
Child Casualties Reported After India’s Missile Strikes
Reports indicate that at least one child has died, with two others injured, after India fired missiles into areas controlled by Pakistan early Wednesday, according to Pakistani security officials.
According to Dawn newspaper, a spokesperson from Pakistan’s state broadcaster PTV News stated:
In this cowardly attack, we lost one innocent child so far, while a woman and a man are critically injured.
General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, a spokesman for the Pakistani military, added that Indian missiles struck three locations: Kotli, Muzaffarabad, and Bahawalpur. He confirmed that Pakistan’s air force quickly activated its defense systems to thwart any further incursions into its airspace, asserting:
Let me be clear: Pakistan will respond to this provocation at a time and place of our choosing. This will not go unanswered.
This escalation follows a previous attack in Kashmir that claimed 26 Indian lives. Witnesses reported hearing several large explosions in the vicinity of Muzaffarabad, along with a citywide power outage.
