Conflict Likely as Americans Can Be Persuaded of Anything

Discussion on U.S.-Canada Relations

On Tuesday, Canadian journalist Stephen Marche commented that President Donald Trump should be wary of the ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Canada, suggesting he has the ability to sway public opinion in his favor.

During a segment, Katy Tur asked Marche about an article he had written for The Atlantic, which he had shared with a friend. He expressed his excitement about its publication and noted the potential for a meaningful conversation regarding the complexities of the U.S.-Canada relationship.

Marche continued, mentioning that Trump often talks about annexing Canada, which apparently resonates with a small segment of the American population. He questioned how, at this point in history, citizens can be so easily convinced of such ideas.

He highlighted the troubling situation in the U.S. legal system, indicating that during a constitutional crisis, aggression towards neighboring countries can become more pronounced and troubling.
