Kari Lake: Voice of America Will Team Up with OAN

Kari Lake, who currently serves as a senior advisor at the U.S. Global Media Agency (USAGM), announced a new partnership between Voice of America (VOA) and One America News (OAN). This collaboration will allow OAN to supply newsfeed services to various platforms within the USAGM network, such as Cuba Broadcasting and Radio Martí.

Lake remarked, “This is a great benefit to American taxpayers, who fund USAGM’s news outlets, and it will exclusively reach an international audience.”

In her announcement on Twitter, Lake expressed enthusiasm for the new initiative, indicating it would enhance the services provided to the USAGM network.

She mentioned, “While I don’t control the editorial content of VOA and OCB, I strive to ensure that our reports and news programs offer reliable options.”

Lake’s nomination has raised concerns among some leftist commentators, who worry about the potential impact on the objectivity of VOA and other U.S. taxpayer-funded broadcasters. They fear these networks may steer clear of controversial subjects related to Trump.

In contrast, conservative commentators have pointed out how mainstream media has historically downplayed issues affecting Democrats, citing examples like President Biden’s cognitive decline.

Lake, noted for her previous gubernatorial campaign in Arizona, had also aimed to cut VOA’s budget as part of broader efforts to reduce federal spending during Trump’s administration.

“Every day, I’m searching for ways to save American taxpayers money,” she stated. “Incorporating OAN as a news source achieves this goal.”
