Priti Patel’s Support for India’s Operation Sindoor in UK Parliament

UK MP Priti Patel Condemns Pahargam Terror Attacks

In a recent address to the UK Parliament, Priti Patel condemned the terrorist attacks in Pahargam, which occurred on April 22nd. She called for heightened counterterrorism cooperation between the UK and India, expressing her sorrow for the victims and emphasizing the threat of cross-border terrorism from groups based in Pakistan.

During her speech, Patel mentioned the tragic loss of 26 tourists in a violent ambush, detailing that many were shot at close range.

“Pahargam has now tragically been added to the list of Indian cities impacted by terrorism, joining others like Mumbai and New Delhi,” she stated, categorizing the incident as unequivocally an act of terrorism.

She advocated for a de-escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan while emphasizing the need for the UK to recognize the risks from terrorist organizations originating in Pakistan.

Addressing the House, Patel expressed her concern about the escalating situation, highlighting that India has taken measured steps to defend itself against these threats. She underscored the imperative of cooperation between the UK and India concerning security, given India’s long-standing battle against terrorism rooted in Pakistan.

Commenting on the UK’s prior security agreements with India, she referenced Pakistan’s history of harboring terrorists, including Osama bin Laden. Patel stressed that the UK should lead collaborative efforts with its allies to confront global terrorism.

She questioned whether the UK had provided specific security assistance to India following the Pahargam attacks, seeking clarity on the government’s response and support for India’s investigation into the incident.

Furthermore, Patel pressed whether the UK had acknowledged that the resistance front, which claimed responsibility for the April 22 attack, is linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. She also drew connections between Lashkar-e-Taiba and other global terrorist groups, including Hamas.

Patel called on the British government to disclose what terrorist groups are currently active in Pakistan and their connections to threats facing the UK and its allies.

She sought updates on the government’s efforts to ease tensions between India and Pakistan and questioned measures taken to ensure that UK aid to Pakistan is not misappropriated by extremists.

Patel also requested more information regarding additional consular support for British citizens in both India and Pakistan amid these developments. She concluded by urging the government to remain transparent about the investigations into the Kashmir attacks and whether there are links to other malicious actors.

Meanwhile, Indian forces are closely monitoring ceasefire violations from Pakistan following targeted actions against terrorist infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, as noted by defense authorities.
