An enthusiastic Celtics supporter isn’t fazed by Boston trailing the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Second Round Playoff Series.
Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, expressed confidence about the Celtics’ chances despite the series’ current state. In a video shared on X shortly after the game, he stated his belief that the Celtics would come out on top.
“I think the Celtics will probably win this series, just like I’m naive,” Portnoy admitted. “It’s hard for me to understand how the Celtics are losing to the Knicks, especially after blowing a 20-point lead in back-to-back games. That simply can’t keep happening. Their three-point shooting has been rough; the league is all about make or miss. They can’t keep performing like this.”
The Celtics continued to struggle with their three-point shooting, again squandering another significant lead, as Portnoy pointed out.
In a disappointing performance, Boston shot 10-40 from beyond the arc on Wednesday night, following a 15-60 showing in Game 1.
Yet, Portnoy remains convinced that the Celtics will not be defeated by the Knicks. “No, they’re not going to lose to the Knicks,” he insisted.
On Monday night, Portnoy had a lighthearted moment with actor Jerry O’Connell. A viral video showcased their encounter after a gala at Barstool in Scottsdale, Arizona, where O’Connell jokingly urged Portnoy, “Hug me,” followed by a “Thank you.” O’Connell exclaimed, “What a day! Bing Bang!” in Portnoy’s direction.
As it stands, the Knicks are leading the series 2-0 and will head back to New York for Game 3 on Saturday afternoon. If they secure another win, it will be interesting to see how Portnoy reacts.
