Sad moment as ex-Real Housewives star’s brother is killed by police during a traffic stop.

Recently released bodycam footage depicts the tragic moment when Lydia McLaughlin’s brothers were shot during a traffic stop in California. The incident involved a confrontation with police after a reported use of a Taser by the individual involved.

According to police reports, 45-year-old Jeffrey Sham Sterling was pulled over for running a red light on his motorcycle in Newport Beach on April 17. During the traffic stop, he allegedly became “uncooperative.”

The released bodycam and dashcam videos reveal a tense interaction between Sterling and the police. At one point, an officer noted that Sterling had a lengthy criminal record and was on parole. Sterling can be heard asking the officer if he’s okay as the situation escalates.

“I’m not drinking, officer,” he insists. “I’m totally calm. I’m just trying to stay safe.” Despite being instructed to sit on the curb, he asserts, “I don’t care what you’re telling me.”

As the situation intensified, Sterling expressed refusal to comply with demands, prompting an officer to reassure him, “I’m not going to shoot you.” Not long after, a struggle ensued when Sterling advanced towards the officers.

Dashcam footage captures the critical moments leading to the altercation, during which it’s alleged that Sterling attempted to grab the officer’s Taser following a physical confrontation.

In a frantic moment, officers shouted for him to “Drop!” before firing at least six shots. According to the police, Sterling had indeed taken the Taser from the officer and attempted to use it during the conflict.

He was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His family, in light of the video evidence, has voiced significant concerns about the circumstances of the shooting.

“Our main concern is that the footage seems to show [Sterling] turning away when he was shot multiple times,” they stated, raising questions about the use of lethal force in this incident.

Lydia McLaughlin, known for her appearances on “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” paid tribute to her brother on social media, expressing her profound grief. “The shock hasn’t settled yet,” she wrote. “But amid this sadness, I cling to faith. God is good. He is in control.”

She also shared a heartfelt message about her brother, saying, “My brother is with my mother now. I hold on to the promise that one day we will all be reunited. Until then, I will miss them every day.”
