In another development, Aeroflot, Russia’s leading airline, canceled upwards of 100 flights from Moscow, which resulted in delays for more than 140 additional flights on Wednesday.

Ceasefire Tensions Amid Parades

Reports from Ukrainian officials indicated that a Russian strike on Friday resulted in the deaths of at least two individuals in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia areas, alongside damage to buildings. This attack occurred despite a previously announced three-day ceasefire leading up to Victory Day celebrations.

The Kremlin had declared that military operations would be suspended during this time, with the ceasefire scheduled to last until Saturday, May 10th.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned that he had a conversation with former President Donald Trump on Thursday. During this discussion, Zelensky stressed Ukraine’s readiness for a 30-day ceasefire and expressed hope for Russia’s support of this proposal. He emphasized that serious intentions to end the conflict should start with an unconditional ceasefire.

The event was attended by notable world leaders, including Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
