From crunchy to cult: Understanding the breakdown of ‘Rose Uncharted’

Questioning has generally been beneficial in today’s political and healthcare landscapes, but sometimes, those who ask questions might take it too far.

One example is an Instagram influencer known as “Rose Uncharted.” Recently, she stepped away from Christianity and has started sharing new age beliefs with her 165,000 followers.

“This isn’t about attacking her personally. It’s more about the content she’s sharing on Instagram, which serves as a perfect illustration of the misleading teachings that Christians ought to watch out for,” noted Ally Beth Stucky as she discussed the concept of “relevance.”

Stucky pointed out that this kind of thinking is particularly appealing to those crunchy mom Christians who often question authority and reject arbitrary rules. However, she cautions that this could draw them toward certain false teachings and distortions of Christianity.

These women think they’re being innovative, but according to Stucky, it’s more about the influence of what she refers to as “antichrist philosophy.”

“Rose Uncharted” gained significant popularity during COVID, largely due to her opposition to various restrictions, such as mask mandates and vaccine requirements.

She’s also quite outspoken about her preference for natural, holistic approaches to medicine and childbirth, often questioning conventional Western medical practices. Recently, she has begun delving into discussions about her transformation.

“For those who might not be familiar with deconstruction, it’s a smooth way of describing the journey many Christians go through when they start doubting what the Bible teaches,” Stucky explained.

In her announcement about her deconstruction, Rose Uncharted wrote:

“Christianity has morphed into a corrupt and flawed system, designed to instill fear in us about our instincts and even our thoughts. Now, I see the unknown not as a threat, but an invitation.”

According to Stucky, she claims to have discovered God independent of organized religion, sketching comparisons between Western and Eastern philosophies this past February.

“I often see this in progressive circles. There’s a tendency to demonize Western thought as if Western civilization doesn’t owe its concept of human rights to Christianity,” she added. “And quite frankly, I find that distressing.”
