Trump Would Accept a Tax Increase on the Wealthy but Warns Against It

President Donald Trump mentioned that Republican lawmakers have increased taxes on wealthy individuals, but he suggested that if he were to caution against it in the same breath, it wouldn’t bother him.

Trump shared his thoughts on Capitol Hill, presenting himself as a Republican advocating for what he calls the “big beautiful bill.” He contended that Democrats might leverage these tax increases politically against Republicans.

The issue with the “small” tax increases on the wealthy, which I and others reluctantly accept to assist lower-income workers, is that the extreme left Democrats run around yelling, “Read My Lips,” a famous phrase from George Bush. No, Rospero lost the election to him!

He issued a warning against imposing higher taxes on the affluent while also remarking that he wouldn’t mind if Republicans decided to proceed with it.

“In any case, Republicans shouldn’t really do that, but if it happens, I’ll be okay with it!” he added.

On Thursday, Trump addressed House Speaker Mike Johnson concerning the tax increases on top earners, reinforcing the 2017 tax cuts and fulfilling various tax-related campaign promises, stressing no tricks and no additional taxes later.

NBC News reported that “savvy GOP sources” indicated they might allow Trump to revert tax rates for incomes over $2.5 million from 37% back to 39.6%, a decision aimed at protecting Medicaid and facilitating tax reductions for middle and working-class individuals.

April 24th, especially during discussions, when asked about supporting a tax on billionaires, he responded, “I think it’s incredibly damaging because many billionaires are leaving the country.”

He elaborated, “In the past, they would leave one state for another. Nowadays, travel has become so simple and quick; they’re just leaving the country altogether. You risk losing a lot of revenue if that continues.”
