Dee Snider’s Move to North Carolina

Dee Snider, the iconic frontman of Twisted Sister, made a big change a few years back, leaving Los Angeles behind for a new life on the “Open Road” in North Carolina. He and his wife decided to leave behind the bustling city for something a bit quieter and more fulfilling.

Reflecting on the move, Snider shared that they made the decision to pivot towards a more peaceful way of life. “We literally looked from the west coast to the east coast and started dialing in slowly,” he noted. North Carolina quickly became their top choice. “We started at the western edge of the state and traveled up the coastline,” he explained, emphasizing how welcoming and lovely the locals were.

Now, the entire Snider family, including their four grown children and six grandchildren, has made North Carolina their home. “This is where we all are,” Snider remarked, clearly pleased with the decision.

Interestingly, Snider and his wife, Suzette, have shared a long history. They met when she snuck into one of his shows using a fake ID. “She thought she was watching a girls’ band,” he joked. Their bond has only grown stronger since then; in fact, Suzette was integral to the band as their costume designer and even crafted their logo.

With four children—Jesse, Shane, Cody, and Cheyenne—now adults, the Sniders have carved out a new chapter in their lives. Susan originally thought her husband would become famous, and it seems they were both right, with a solid family and a comfortable lifestyle in North Carolina.

On top of everything, Snider has found joy in the rural nature of his new home, enjoying the beautiful open roads. “I like cars, and the roads here are great,” he remarked. Riding a motorcycle has become a passion for him, providing a sense of freedom he didn’t quite experience in the congested cities. “You can really enjoy the beauty of the nation,” he said. Yet, he chuckled at a recent mishap, admitting, “Sometimes the trail wins,” after a spill on his bike.
