WASHINGTON – President Trump announced on Saturday that the U.S. has facilitated a “full and immediate ceasefire” between Pakistan and India.
“We’re excited to share that after extensive discussions, India and Pakistan have reached an agreement for a complete and immediate ceasefire,” he stated in a post on Morning Truth Social.
“Congratulations to both nations for exercising common sense and wisdom. Thank you for addressing this matter.”
Recent tensions had surged between the two nations, with missiles and drones being deployed in regions that had remained quiet for decades.
Trump’s announcement follows remarks from Vice President J.D. Vance, who indicated on Thursday that the U.S. preferred to stay out of the conflict. “What we can do is encourage some de-escalation, but realistically, this isn’t our war to fight,” Vance told Fox News.
