Dennis Alexander, renowned for his performances in “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives,” has died at the age of 85. On Saturday, Frank Valentini, the executive producer of “General Hospital,” took to Instagram to share the unfortunate news and extend his condolences to Alexander’s family.
“I’m deeply saddened to learn of Dennis Alexander’s passing. She broke ground on screen, portraying Leslie Weber, one of the first female doctors in daytime television for nearly 50 years,” Valentini noted in his statement. “It was a privilege to see her reprise her role in recent years. My heartfelt sympathies go out to her family, friends, and devoted fans. She may now rest in peace.” The post included a series of photos capturing Alexander’s life, both in and out of the spotlight.
Fans quickly expressed their sympathies as well. One commented, “She brought an unmistakable charm to GH during a fascinating era.” Another added, “My condolences to her family and friends. She was a remarkable actress and provided years of memorable moments at GH.”
Before her long stint on “General Hospital,” Alexander played Susan Hunter Martin in “Days of Our Lives” from 1966 to 1973. Following that, she embodied Dr. Leslie Williams in “General Hospital,” a role she held for nearly half a century. Her final appearance aired in 2021.
In a touching tribute, “Days of Our Lives” star Susan Seaforth Hayes acknowledged her dear friend on social media. “Dennis Alexander was a cherished friend and respected actress,” she shared. “Her lasting impact began the day I joined the cast, and we both shared childhood paths in acting, shaped by strong mothers and a Christian Science background.”
