Michael Jordan’s surprising new role in NBA broadcasting announced

NBA enthusiasts can look forward to seeing more of Michael Jordan this coming fall.

The basketball icon, now 62, will serve as a special correspondent for NBC, a role the network announced on Monday.

During a video presentation at NBC Upfronts in New York, Jordan, known for his six championships with the Chicago Bulls, shared his enthusiasm about this new opportunity. He mentioned, “I’m excited to be a special contributor…I look forward to seeing you guys when NBC’s NBA starts this fall.”

Interestingly, Jordan has generally kept a low profile, especially since selling the Hornets in 2023 and living a relaxed life with his wife, Yvette Prieto. It’s not typical for him to engage in media roles, which makes this announcement all the more intriguing.

This news comes shortly after NBC revealed that Carmelo Anthony will also join the network as an in-studio analyst.

In related news, the NBA announced last summer that a new 11-year media rights agreement with NBC will kick off in the 2025-26 season.

Jordan’s career spanned 15 seasons in the league.
