Energy Secretary Chris Wright Aims to Eliminate 47 Regulations ‘Increasing Costs and Reducing Quality of Life’

Energy Secretary Chris Wright proposed a significant announcement on Monday, aiming to eliminate numerous regulations that he claims are “increasing costs and reducing the quality of life” for Americans.

The Department of Energy characterized this initiative as “the largest deregulation effort in history,” specifically targeting 47 regulations. These changes involve a variety of topics, including repealing several consumer appliance standards from the Biden administration, such as the “Conservation Standards for Automatic Commercial Ice Makers,” “Energy-saving standards for commercially available play valves,” “Faucet water usage standards,” “Efficiency standards for battery chargers,” and “Efficiency standards for compact residential washing machines,” among others.

Wright acknowledged that the department usually takes “years” to regulate, but noted that the Trump administration “organized a team working around the clock to cut costs and deliver results to Americans in just over 110 days.”

“Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we’re embracing common sense again. This new regulation aims to counter the ideals of the Green New Deal, which limits consumer choices and raises costs for Americans,” he stated, indicating that “the promises made are being fulfilled.”

Implementing these 47 changes is projected to save Americans about $11 billion and “remove more than 125,000 words from federal regulatory codes,” as per a press release. A full list of the items can be accessed in the complete post.

Additionally, the department mentioned this aligns with President Donald Trump’s executive order from April 9 titled “Zero-based regulations to unleash American energy.”

“This order instructs certain agencies to include sundown provisions in regulations overseeing energy production, as allowed by law, necessitating regular reviews of regulations to ensure they benefit the public,” the announcement explained.

“We tirelessly collaborated to examine all the regulations proposed by the DOE,” Wright shared during his Sunday interview with Fox News.

“Tomorrow, we’ll reveal 47 changes to regulations, primarily eliminating rules affecting dishwashers, stoves, washing machines, and microwaves,” he added.

“That’s exactly what my wife wants for Mother’s Day—a real shower again,” he noted.
