Pope Leo XIV’s eldest brother defends sharing a crude post against Pelosi.

The eldest son of Pope Leo XIV faced scrutiny after sharing a social media post that referred to California Representative Nancy Pelosi with an offensive term.

Louis Prevost, however, didn’t express any remorse for the derogatory remarks aimed at the former House Speaker. In an interview with Piers Morgan, he speculated about what the first meeting would look like between President Trump and the new Pope.

This situation gained considerable attention, particularly among fans of Prevost and those aligned with Donald Trump, as media reports highlighted the controversy surrounding his Facebook activity.

One particularly provocative post was a video featuring Pelosi from 1996, where she was insulted again.

“I shared it because I believe it,” Prevost mentioned during the interview, though he seemed to reflect slightly on the repercussions.

“I had no idea this would blow up. Since then, I’ve been more reserved, not wanting to stir things up unnecessarily, as I’m supportive of Trump and prefer not to complicate my stance,” he added. “I don’t want to add to my brother’s challenges.”

Prevost acknowledged that Leo might lean more towards moderate views compared to his own, despite maintaining that the Pope does not advocate for same-sex marriage or female priests, insisting that he is “awake” to certain issues.

“I’m not sure how far he’s willing to go in that regard,” he said, responding to Morgan’s questions about his brother’s views.

Prevost expressed a belief that while Leo would be welcoming to the LGBTQ community in a general sense, he wouldn’t endorse same-sex marriage. He mentioned that despite potentially having a role in the church, he would not see himself as a candidate for the priesthood.

When the conversation shifted to his brother’s relationship with Trump, Prevost suggested there could be some tensions, although he didn’t consider them adversaries.

“If they meet, there might be some disagreement and some heated dialogue,” he noted.

Leo was recently elected Pope amid much celebration and has begun to articulate his positions as he assumes leadership of the Catholic Church.
