Authorities arrest Venezuelan migrant involved in the murders of four individuals.

Immigration authorities report that a Venezuelan immigrant sought in his home country for involvement in four murders was apprehended in Texas. Anthony Fabian Marine La Torre, 42, was initially caught on September 26, 2022, at the southern border in San Luis, Arizona, but was subsequently released into the United States, according to immigration and customs enforcement.

On February 18, Venezuelan officials informed the U.S. that Marine La Torre had fled following the murders.

He was eventually arrested on May 2, alongside three other federal agencies, in the Dallas suburb of Grapevine.

It appears that border agents may not have been able to access Marine La Torre’s criminal background, as the Maduro government has not cooperated with the Biden administration’s requests for such information.

In the past, border agents often allowed Venezuelan immigrants who crossed the border illegally to remain without thorough checks. However, the situation shifted under the Trump administration, which established communication channels with the Venezuelan government to facilitate deportations.

There’s some uncertainty regarding his potential ties to criminal organizations like Tren de Aragua, which originated in Venezuelan prisons.

Josh Johnson, the acting field office director for Dallas, stated, “The fugitive has been charged with several horrific crimes, further representing the threat to the Texas community. We don’t tolerate this.” He emphasized that Ice Dallas prioritizes public safety by arresting foreign criminals.

Currently, Marine La Torre is awaiting expulsion while in ICE detention.
