During a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, President Donald Trump introduced the Crown Prince to two significant figures in the AI industry: Tesla CEO Elon Musk and OpenAI’s Sam Altman.
Reports indicate that Trump made this introduction during his visit.
Arriving in Riyadh on Tuesday morning, Trump began a four-day trip to the Middle East and also finalized an agreement related to defense and economics, which would facilitate semiconductor sales to Saudi Arabia.
Musk and Altman, accompanying Trump, met with the Crown Prince at the royal palace, which serves as the official residence and workplace of the King of Saudi Arabia.
Recently, Mohammed Bin Salman initiated the AI company Humain, aimed at enhancing Saudi Arabia’s AI capabilities and infrastructure. This venture is backed by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), which manages assets worth around $940 billion.
Other American tech firms like Google and Salesforce have also engaged with PIF for AI-related investments, according to various sources.
Interestingly, Trump took the stage in Riyadh to Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA,” stirring reactions on social media.
