One of MLB’s standout looks has vanished. Bryce Harper, known not just for his skills but also for his impressive hair, made waves when he chopped off his locks, reverting to a style reminiscent of his rookie year.
On Tuesday night, Harper surprised fans with a fresh cut—short on top, with shaved sides and a faux hawk in the back. Maybe he felt a new look could spark better performance, especially given his struggling batting average of .212 over the past 22 games. Unfortunately, the haircut didn’t quite work its magic, as the Phillies ended up losing 3-2 to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Harper’s batting woes have been notable this season, sitting at .232 overall and an alarming .205 since mid-April. He started growing his hair short back in 2012, and by 2015, it was noticeably long when he won his first MVP award. After claiming a second MVP in 2021, he gave it another trim but had let it grow again in recent years.
Last year, the Philadelphia Phillies clinched the National League East, finishing with a solid 95-67 record. However, they currently trail the New York Mets in the standings, finding themselves 2.5 games behind following a playoff defeat last season.
