ANTA recently introduced its innovative PG7 midsole technology, marking a significant advancement in athletic footwear. Launched in 2024, this technology sets a new standard with a peak gravity (PG) value of 7.8—where, generally speaking, a lower PG indicates better cushioning. Now, just as the year kicked off, ANTA has further refined this technology, lowering the PG value to 7.6. This change aims to redefine shock absorption, enhancing both comfort and stability in their performance shoes.
Global “PG7 Cushion Evolution” Relay Run Encompasses 12 Cities
With the latest iteration of its Travel Step 2 running shoes equipped with PG7 technology, ANTA initiated a global relay event dubbed “PG7 Cushion Evolution,” showcasing their cutting-edge technology to runners in cities like Shanghai, Addis Ababa, Hanoi, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Manila, San Francisco, and Boston.
The relay kicked off in Shanghai on April 12, featuring intriguing live demonstrations to display the shock-absorbing capabilities of PG7 material. In one demonstration, eggs dropped from three feet remained unscathed when cushioned by PG7, while those placed on standard EVA foam cracked upon impact. Another experiment showcased a smartphone wrapped in PG7 material surviving repeated hits from a hefty hammer.
The event continued through iconic running locales, making stops in Chicago and San Francisco during April. It coincided with the renowned Boston Marathon, where runners could test out the PG7 cushions and professional racing shoes from ANTA’s Challenge series. The journey extended to Brooklyn, New York, where the company collaborated with the Midnight Runners Club to hold community runs, fostering a culture of shared running passion.
Enhanced PG7 Technology & Travel Step 2: Bigger Cushion, Better Fit
A seemingly minor drop in PG value from 7.8 to 7.6 brings substantial improvement in cushioning performance. The enhanced dispersion of the PG7 midsole leads to more efficient energy returns. Its newly designed “wide toe box” enhances comfort, accommodating various foot shapes. Furthermore, the upgraded A-Grip rubber outsole provides superior traction due to its wider profile, while an asymmetric 3D heel stabilizer aids in landing stability through ergonomic support.
ANTA’s ambition is clear: they want to ensure that every runner can experience their advanced PG7 technology. “Our goal is straightforward,” mentions Samuel Tsui, CEO of ANTA. “We want our shoes on every runner’s feet.” The PG7 midsole connects runners to the ground, translating their movements into enhanced performance. From its inception to its current iteration, PG7 embodies ANTA’s commitment to delivering high-performance technology to everyday athletes and pushing beyond conventional limits.
