Trump maintains his support for Qatar’s donation of a notable $400M Boeing 747 jet to the US.

Trump Defends Acceptance of Qatar’s $400 Million Jet

In a recent interview with Sean Hannity, President Donald Trump stood firm on his choice to accept a luxurious Boeing 747-8 jet from Qatar, valued at $400 million. This deal has come under scrutiny since it was revealed on Sunday, with critics questioning the appropriateness of accepting such a gift.

“Some people say, ‘You shouldn’t accept a gift from a foreign country.’ But, honestly, why not?” Trump remarked during the conversation.

He stated the jet would serve as a temporary solution due to delays in Boeing’s production of new Air Force One jets. Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the current aircraft, which he noted is nearly 40 years old and less impressive compared to those used by leaders in countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar. “We are the United States of America. We should have the best,” he emphasized.

Trump further clarified that this jet is meant to benefit the Department of Defense, noting that it’s preferable for military funding not to cover costs that could come from Qatar instead.

“Why should our military and taxpayers foot the bill when we can receive this support from a nation recognizing our efforts?” he added, insisting the plane would eventually find a place in the Presidential Library once Boeing delivers the new fleet.

Trump’s next stop includes a visit to Qatar, part of his ongoing international tour following a three-day trip to the Middle East.

During this visit, he engaged with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
