Authorities have been granted an additional 36 hours to question a man detained in connection with a suspected arson incident involving property tied to the Kiel Star.
The individual, a 21-year-old, was taken into custody early Tuesday at a location in Sydenham, south of London, and reportedly made attempts to harm himself amid the arson allegations. Police are allowed to hold him until Friday morning.
The Prime Minister’s family residence in northwest London, a flat that he previously owned and is currently renting, is part of the investigation, alongside a car he once possessed. Detectives are working to establish whether these three incidents are connected.
Fortunately, none of the events resulted in injuries, though police reported that “damage took place at the entrance” of the Preferred House in Kentishtown.
It is understood that living arrangements at the official Downing Street residence prioritize providing a four-bedroom home for the Prime Minister’s sister-in-law and her family.
During a session on Wednesday, Prime Minister Kemi Badenok responded to the incident, calling it “terrifying” and emphasizing its inappropriateness. The Conservative leader stated, “This is completely unacceptable. I believe it’s an attack not only on him but on all of us and our democracy.”
He expressed gratitude to the opposition leaders for their supportive words regarding the attacks on him and his family, thanking many for their kind messages in recent days.
Badenok mentioned receiving a message from him “quite quickly” after the news broke. Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davy also extended his sympathy and support to Starme.
