Homan and AOC’s conflict persists as the border official criticizes the progressive representative.

Homan Responds to Ocasio-Cortez Amid DOJ Investigation Talks

Tom Homan, known during the Trump administration as the “border emperor,” recently addressed comments from House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez regarding a potential investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ). This conversation unfolded after he answered questions about the DOJ’s role in aiding immigrants facing issues with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

When asked about Ocasio-Cortez’s claims that she hadn’t received updates from the DOJ, Homan urged the department to confirm her situation. Notably, the DOJ has not commented on prior investigations concerning this matter.

“I want her to do her job. She’s a legislator, right? Why isn’t she passing legislation that actually improves this country, like President Trump has done?” he remarked.

Interestingly, the NYC Council member who visited Homan expressed his enthusiasm about the encounter and vowed to support him in addressing immigration issues.

Homan emphasized, “I’m at work: the borders are safe. We’ve arrested more criminals. Biden did that. We are at work. She should try her job.” His comments come in light of Democrats who had previously confronted an ICE facility in Newark, New Jersey, leading to discussions of accountability.

After a reporter inquired about a specific warning Ocasio-Cortez issued, she expressed frustrations on Instagram, highlighting concerns over representatives present at the facility facing repercussions. “You’re putting your fingers down on [New Jersey Congresswoman] Bonnie Watson Coleman and the others who were there,” she noted.

Homan arrived on Capitol Hill to meet with a significant House GOP group on immigration strategies, at the request of Chairman August Pfluger. Earlier this week, three New Jersey Democrats, including Coleman and Robert Menendez, participated in protests outside the Delaney Hall Detention Center, where Mayor Russ Baraka was notably arrested.

In a light-hearted moment, when questioned about Ocasio-Cortez’s warning, Homan chuckled and said, “I’m extremely blackmailed.” During a previous interaction with Homan, Ocasio-Cortez asserted her right to free speech and expressed indifference to potential consequences.

Following the event, Homan mentioned, “I’m working with the DOJ to determine the boundaries, so Ocasio-Cortez might be in some trouble.” Meanwhile, the Democratic representatives have maintained their stance that lawmakers should have access to Delaney Hall as federal employees, while Republicans weigh the implications of these developments.
