Ryder Cup Captains at PGA Championship
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — True to tradition, the current Ryder Cup captains are present at Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship this week. Representing the U.S. team is Keegan Bradley, while Luke Donald leads the European side.
While both are competing for the tournament title, their primary focus might also be on scouting potential players for their teams. This week provides an opportunity to assess talent and gauge who might fit well for the upcoming Ryder Cup.
For Luke Donald, aged 47, the chances of making the cut at Quail Hollow are slim. Nevertheless, he sees the value in the experience, particularly in planning the right lineup for the U.S. team, which will compete from September 26-28 at Bethpage Black.
On the other hand, 38-year-old Bradley is eligible to participate due to his 2011 PGA victory. He is looking forward to playing enough to earn a spot on the team through points, embracing the competitive atmosphere this week.
