Halle Bailey, star of ‘The Little Mermaid,’ obtains a restraining order against her child’s father.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A judge in Los Angeles has stated that her former partner, rapper and YouTuber DDG, exhibits a pattern of violent behavior towards her, raising concerns for her safety and that of their child.

On Tuesday, the judge ordered DDG, whose real name is Daryl Dwayne Granbury Jr., to attend a hearing scheduled for June 6.

“Throughout our relationship,” Bailey explained in a document seeking the order, “Daryl has continually been abusive—physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially.”

There was no immediate response from Granbury’s representative regarding these allegations.

Bailey, who is 25, and Granbury, 27, were in a relationship from 2022 until last year, during which she claims there have been several instances of physical violence since their breakup.

In a specific incident from January, Bailey described that Granbury called her a derogatory term while trying to restrain her in his car.

“Things escalated, and we ended up in a physical altercation,” Bailey recounted in her documents. “We were wrestling, and at one point, Daryl pulled my hair and slammed my face against the car handle, resulting in missing teeth.”

She included images of her injuries, showing her bruises and damaged teeth, with her report.

In March, she alleged he entered her home without permission and sent her a picture of her bed alongside a threatening message insinuating infidelity.

A few days later, she stated that when she refused to go with him to visit their ill child, he became aggressive and broke her ring camera in the process. After reaching out to family for help, he reportedly seized her phone and slammed her against a car door while she held their baby. Bailey later filed a police report regarding this event.

She has also requested that Granbury be prohibited from using his Twitch and YouTube channels to discuss their relationship.

“Whenever he feels upset, he broadcasts misinformation to his millions of followers, claiming I’m denying him access to our son and seeing other men,” she noted. “This leads to threats and negativity directed at me online.”

The court has ordered Granbury to refrain from possessing any weapons. The judge may extend this order for up to five years during the June 6 hearing.

Originally from Pontiac, Michigan, DDG has made a name for himself as a successful streamer and hip-hop artist. He recently released his fourth studio album, “Blame the Chat,” on May 5.

Bailey, from Atlanta, has received five Grammy nominations both as a solo artist and as part of the duo Chloe X Halle, which she formed with her sister. She was featured in the sitcom Grown-Ish from 2018 to 2022 and portrayed the title role in a live-action adaptation of Disney’s The Little Mermaid in 2023.
