Angel Reese ends Caitlin Clark question as WNBA season approaches

Angel Reese hasn’t allowed anyone to stir the pot regarding the rumored rivalry with Fever star Caitlyn Clark.

The Chicago Sky forward quickly shut down questions on the topic last year during a press conference when a comment from Reese suggested that some might view Clark as the sole reason for increased attention on the WNBA.

When a reporter asked if Reese wanted to elaborate on her bold statement from last year, emphasizing that fans are now watching women’s basketball for more than just one player, Reese’s response was simply, “Next question.”

Media representatives attempted to rephrase her quote, but Reese interrupted, reiterating, “Next question.”

Sky public relations staff swiftly moved on to keep the press conference flowing, with an affirmation, “Yeah, I’ll move on. Thank you.”

While Clark’s popularity has undoubtedly brought significant attention to the league, some within the WNBA community have expressed discomfort with that notion.

Reese’s initial comments came during a media session last June after a heated matchup between the Sky and the Heat.

“I look back 20 years from now, and it’s not just one person who’s watching women’s basketball,” Reese shared. “It’s my fault. I want it to happen. Not just one person. Many of us have contributed a lot to this game. There are so many remarkable players in this league who have worked hard for this.”

The rivalry between Clark and Reese was a recurring theme throughout last season, drawing considerable attention from the league.

It seems this year won’t be any different, as the Sky and Heat are set to clash again at Gainbridge Field House on Saturday.
