Trump speaks to US troops in Qatar, highlights pay increase.

Trump Critiques Biden’s Afghanistan Withdrawal and Talks Military Enhancements

During a speech at Al-Udaid Air Force Base in Qatar on Thursday, former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. He expressed his desire to increase military wages as part of his projected 2026 budget. “You might not be focused on the nation’s profits, but everyone will see a substantial salary increase,” Trump proclaimed to the service members.

Trump further emphasized the strength of the U.S. military, claiming, “We have the strongest army in world history. It’s not even a contest.” He acknowledged that while the U.S. might not have the best equipment, it still surpasses other nations, adding that “no one has planes or missiles like we do.”

He also took a moment to address Biden’s administration, referencing the deaths of 13 American troops during the evacuation process in Kabul. Trump remarked, “And as your commander, I’m here to say that the US military will soon become bigger, better, stronger,” reinforcing his commitment to enhancing military capabilities.

Trump’s address followed a series of agreements signed with Qatar’s Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha. These agreements included a deal for Qatar to purchase Boeing aircraft and commitments to foster cooperation between the nations.

Noting the transformation in U.S.-Qatar relations since 2017, when he accused Qatar of supporting terrorism, Trump pointed out that Qatar evolved into the U.S.’s major non-NATO ally under Biden’s administration in 2022. Today, Al-Udaid Air Force Base stands as a vital hub for U.S. Central Command.
