Raids in Los Angeles Result in 239 Arrests of Criminal Illegal Immigrants Within a Week

Last week, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested 239 undocumented individuals in Los Angeles as part of targeted enforcement efforts. Among those detained were individuals with serious offenses, including manslaughter, theft, and sexual assault of minors.

The operation, which took place from May 4th to May 10th, aimed to enhance public safety in the Greater Los Angeles area.

ICE reported that Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) worked alongside interagency partners to locate, detain, and deport dangerous offenders throughout Los Angeles and nearby areas. The agency cautioned foreign nationals committing crimes in the US to refrain from attempting to evade arrest by ICE.

The following individuals were among those arrested during this operation:

  • Lan Pham, a 49-year-old from Vietnam, is undocumented in the US. ICE has labeled him a career criminal with a record that includes involuntary manslaughter, weapon assaults, and various drug violations.
  • Manuel Angel Rodriguez Martinez, a 40-year-old from El Salvador, faces charges related to the rape of minors or vulnerable individuals in his home country.
  • Jorge Alatello Meza Rodriguez, a 52-year-old from Mexico, is unlawfully present in the US and has a history of vehicle theft, weapon assaults, and illegal re-entry after felony charges.
  • Sung Park, a 52-year-old from South Korea, is also illegally in the US and has been convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

ICE collaborated with several federal law enforcement agencies during this operation, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI, and ATF, as well as state and local law enforcement partners.

As part of an initiative announced by President Trump in March, agents from various federal agencies are focusing on targeting cartels and transnational crime organizations in their fight against illegal immigration.

In the same week, over 1,400 undocumented individuals with immigration-related offenses were processed in federal courts, as reported by the Department of Justice.
