Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, recently voiced unexpected worries regarding the Israeli hostages held by Hamas. He stated on Thursday that the path to peace in Gaza begins with “taking hostages.”
These remarks were made during an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, who posed open-ended questions about what should occur next in Gaza.
Currently, Hamas is believed to be holding around 20 living hostages, out of a total of nearly 60.
During President Donald Trump’s first term, the United Arab Emirates aimed to foster unity with Israel, maintaining strong relationships despite the ongoing conflict in Gaza, and leveraging these connections to provide humanitarian aid.
It was clear that the Foreign Minister’s emphasis on Israeli hostages dominated his statements regarding the Palestinian situation.
This has been interpreted by Israelis as a gesture of solidarity and friendship, reflecting a continued belief in the potential for peace in the region. This goal fits into the wider objectives of President Trump’s visit to Arab countries.
On Thursday, President Trump returned to the United Arab Emirates, visiting both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where he explored places renowned for religious coexistence—locations previously highlighted by Breitbart News in 2023.
