The cost of living in the highest apartment building in the world

Brazil’s New Supertall Tower Set to Dethrone NYC’s Central Park Tower

A new skyscraper in Brazil, known as the Senna Tower, is on track to become the tallest apartment building in the world, surpassing New York City’s Central Park Tower. Its elite units are expected to come with a hefty price tag.

Rising above the luxurious Brazilian beach resort of Balneário Camboriú, this tower has drawn inspiration from the legendary Formula 1 racer Ayrton Senna. Remarkably, it stands even taller than One World Trade Center in NYC.

Recently, developers of the ambitious 154-floor project disclosed updated prices for its exclusive residences. The financial figures have certainly caught attention.

The complex features two triplex penthouses, each covering about 9,700 square feet, and the new price tag is a significant jump from an initial estimate of $159.2 million.

These opulent properties are being sold through Sotheby’s, a renowned auction house based in London.

Ayrton Senna, a three-time world champion in racing, is widely revered as one of the sport’s all-time greats. While he secured six wins at the Monaco Grand Prix, his life was tragically cut short at age 34 during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

The Senna Tower’s height surpasses that of the Central Park Tower and is reported to include a total of 228 units. Prices for even the most modest units are set to begin around $5 million.

The tower’s estimated construction investment exceeds $525 million, making it a notable addition to Balneário Camboriú’s skyline, often referred to as “Dubai of Brazil.” This area in the southern state of Santa Catarina is a favored tourist spot.

Interestingly, the design of the Senna Tower, created with contributions from Senna’s niece, artist Lalali Senna, symbolizes a journey through the challenges faced by icons of motorsport.

Along with 204 units around 4,300 square feet each, the tower also boasts 18 luxury “mansions” that range from 4,520 to 6,060 square feet, alongside four duplexes of around 6,450 square feet.

Construction is anticipated to wrap up by 2033. While the Senna Tower makes headlines, it’s worth noting that the most expensive apartments in the world remain in exclusive European locations like Monaco, where a penthouse in the Enclave Odeon Tower recently sold for over $335 million.
