Nolan Siegel criticizes Christian Rasmussen after daring move in Indy500 practice

The Indy 500 isn’t officially underway yet, but that hasn’t stopped the drama from unfolding during the third day of practice on Friday.

Nolan Siegel faced off with Christian Rasmussen, who made a risky move that cut off Siegel on a turn. Broadcast footage captured Siegel voicing his frustration to his crew about Rasmussen’s reckless behavior.

Siegel expressed his irritation, suggesting Rasmussen was not just another careless driver. “He’s already on the list of idiots, and there are a lot of them, but he’s, well, definitely better than most,” Siegel remarked.

The commentators shared in Siegel’s exasperation, noting, “You can sense the tension—it’s palpable, especially with the winds,” one announcer pointed out.

As for the tradition surrounding the Indy 500 weekend, Fridays are informally termed “Fast Friday.” That’s when the draw for qualifying takes place at 6:15 PM ET.

Saturdays are packed with qualifying events throughout the day, beginning at 11 AM on FS1 and continuing on FS2 at 1:30 PM ET, with the final set airing on Fox at 4 PM.

The top 30 fastest cars will secure their spots during the full field qualifying on Saturday, with the rankings for positions 13-30 solidified—those spots won’t be subject to change on Sunday.

On Sunday, positions 7-12 will be decided, as they’ll be ranked based on Saturday’s results. The quickest six will compete in the Firestone Fast Six for pole positions.

With qualifying rapidly approaching, the excitement and pressure are already intensifying.
