Secret Service talks to James Comey regarding the ‘8647’ seashell threat

The Secret Service has reportedly engaged with James Comey, the former FBI Director, regarding certain images shared on social media that many interpret as a threat against the president.

On Friday, agents accompanied Comey to the Washington Field office in Washington, D.C., for questioning. Law enforcement sources shared with CNN that Comey faced inquiries about a message, “8647,” believed to be a call for violence against President Donald Trump, who currently holds office as the 47th president of the United States.

In a recent post, Comey showcased images of various shells arranged to form the number “8647.” He subsequently removed the post, asserting he never intended to endorse political violence.

A CNN report indicates that Comey attended the interview voluntarily and was not taken into custody. Anthony Grielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, provided a statement about the matter.

“The Secret Service is thoroughly investigating anything that could be perceived as a potential threat,” Grielmi remarked. “We are aware of what former FBI directors post on social media and treat this kind of rhetoric with the utmost seriousness. However, we won’t be commenting further on the protection intelligence involved,” he added.

Additionally, Homeland Security Section Kristi Noem and current FBI Director Kash Patel have indicated that they will be investigating the Comey situation further.

Interestingly, President Trump has criticized Comey during his remarks to Fox News. He stated, “He knew exactly what it meant. The kids know what it means. If you’re the FBI director and you don’t understand it, well… it suggests assassination.” Trump insisted that, while he might not have been very capable, he should have recognized such implications. “People like me appreciate what’s happening in the country. Our nation is gaining respect again,” he said.

The term “86” has had various connotations over the years. Traditionally, it referred to removing something from a restaurant menu, but more contemporarily, it has taken on meanings associated with killing.
