Yuki Tsunoda’s serious crash during qualifying leads to a red flag at the Emilia Romagna GP

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix Qualifying Update

Qualifying for the Formula 1 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix is still in progress at the Imola circuit in Italy.

However, one driver’s session came to an abrupt end before Q1 wrapped up.

Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda faced a terrifying crash during his push-lap, which prompted a red flag and halted the session with over 12 minutes left in the first quarter. Tsunoda initially pushed through the Villeneuve Chicane but then lost control and collided with the barriers.

Video of the incident is available for viewing.

Tsunoda managed to exit his car and walked towards the safety vehicle, where he was later taken to the medical center for assessment.

While the session was paused, several drivers reached out to their teams for updates about Tsunoda’s condition. Notably, Liam Lawson, in his car, mentioned he had seen the crash footage and wanted to ensure Tsunoda was alright.

After a lengthy interruption, qualifying resumed at 4:20 PM local time, with 19 drivers still vying for pole positions at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

Update: Red Bull has informed that Tsunoda was cleared following a precautionary medical evaluation.

Fortunately, Yuki was examined and subsequently released from the medical center.
