The Palm Springs IVF clinic bomber has been identified as Guy Edward Bartkus.

A man, 25 years old and from Southern California, has been named as the suspect responsible for detonating a car bomb outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs on Saturday. Reports indicate that four individuals sustained injuries in the incident.

Law enforcement has identified Guy Edward Bartkus from Twentynine Palms as the person who detonated an explosive device in his vehicle near the American reproductive center, which offers IVF treatments, egg collection, and various related procedures.

After the explosion, the FBI labeled the area as an “explosion zone” due to concerns that residents might inadvertently come into contact with additional explosives. This led to the evacuation of nearby homes, as reported by ABC7.

During a late-night press conference, Akil Davis, the assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, confirmed that their agency is in charge of the investigation. He did not, however, clarify if RAID is directly linked to the tragic event at the IVF clinic.

Interestingly, the FBI revealed that the suspect was the sole fatality from the bombing.

Armored vehicles and bomb squad teams were seen around the suspect’s residence, amidst reports of loud commands from officials warning about the potential danger, including the phrase “Fire in the hole.”

The home where Bartkus lived is roughly an hour from the reproductive center, and the blast has been categorized as an “intentional terrorist act” by the FBI.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after 11 a.m. local time to investigate the explosion at the clinic.

Visuals from the scene depict firefighters attending to the area while debris and shattered glass littered the street outside the facility.

Unverified social media claims suggested that remnants of body parts were discovered at the site.

While authorities haven’t confirmed a direct connection between the evacuation and the clinic bombing, local sources informed the LA Times that Bartkus was indeed active in the Twentynine Palms vicinity.

According to Mayor Ron DeJarte, the explosion likely originated from a vehicle parked near the reproductive center.

Residents reported that smoke filled the air, leading to a peculiar odor wafting through the desert, following the explosion.

As per an internal briefing accessed by the LA Times, police discovered two rifles at Bartkus’s home, including an AK-47 and an AR-style rifle.

Thomas Bickel, a resident nearby, recounted the moment deputies knocked on his door, insisting he evacuate.

“The sheriff’s deputies were going from door to door, informing everyone they had to leave,” he told ABC7.

He mentioned that his house was the closest to the investigation site, making him one of the first residents told to evacuate.

This unsettling experience has left Bickel rattled, especially with children frequently visiting his home.

“It’s frightening to realize that someone could be constructing bombs so close to where my kids play,” he expressed.

The FBI has yet to confirm the specifics about the materials found in the home in Twentynine Palms.
