Mike Pence Comments on Trump’s Saudi Arabia Speech
On Sunday, former Vice President Mike Pence shared his thoughts regarding President Donald Trump’s speech in Saudi Arabia during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Host Kristen Welker raised the topic of Trump’s first official overseas trip, noting that he met with the new Syrian president and lifted all sanctions despite opposition from Israel.
Pence responded, saying, “I believe it was a successful trip for the U.S. economy. The President secured financial agreements in all three nations, including a significant deal to purchase Boeing aircraft. This really boosts American interests.”
However, he expressed some reservations about Trump’s approach, stating, “I wasn’t fully on board with the President’s stance. I raised concerns about the Saudi leader’s global war on terrorism. I characterized it as just state building and interventionism. It’s troubling, especially considering that 15 of the 19 hijackers from 9/11 were from Saudi Arabia, apart from Osama bin Laden.”
