Iam Tongi made a striking appearance during the red carpet event for the world premiere of “Lilo & Stitch” in Los Angeles, showcasing his impressive weight loss of 115 pounds. This transformation caught him off guard, and at just 20 years old, he credited his personal trainer for helping him focus on his health and achieve his weight loss goals.
He shared details about his training routine, mentioning, “We have a training session. Maybe around 11, come back home, and we go to the ice bath or sauna. Then we go back, shower, and take a walk. I lost 115 pounds. It’s a fantastic feeling. I feel great.” His commitment to self-improvement is evident as he’s focused on maintaining his health.
Tongi relocated to Memphis, and it seems like this change has spurred a wave of creativity for him. He said, “I was busy working out, writing, recording, but in a different way.” Now, he’s excited about working on an album and feels inspired by artists like Al Green, whom he considers his favorite.
Despite living in Tennessee, Tongi cherishes his Hawaiian roots. He expressed how wonderful it is to return home and witness the joy on people’s faces when they see him. It’s quite a cool feeling, he noted.
Reflecting on his journey since winning “American Idol,” he acknowledged the friendships he’s formed with other contestants, valuing those connections deeply. Tongi also candidly addressed the criticism he faced after his win, with some suggesting that his emotional background influenced the outcome of the competition. He often honored his late father during his performances, which became an integral part of his story on the show.
