Authorities: Former NFL player among more than 250 individuals taken into custody in human trafficking operation

Former NFL Linebacker Arrested in Human Trafficking Sting

A former NFL linebacker is among over 250 individuals arrested during a human trafficking operation in Florida.

Adarius Taylor, who spent seven seasons in the NFL with teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, and Cleveland Browns, was apprehended last month, as reported by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Interestingly, Taylor’s original last name was Granton, but he changed it to honor his father.

Reports indicate that the 34-year-old was involved in taking a six-year-old to a less-than-ideal location.

Sheriff Grady Judd shared that the child was subsequently placed in the care of the Florida Children and Family Bureau.

“It seems like he might have taken too many hits as a linebacker; his brain cells appear scrambled,” Judd remarked.

Currently, Taylor faces charges for felony negligent child abuse without physical harm and solicitation related to misdemeanor retail prostitution.

This arrest was part of a broader operation where 255 individuals were detained over nine days, concluding on May 10th.

Among those arrested, 141 are accused of soliciting prostitutes, while 93 are facing various prostitution-related charges, including facilitating and transporting prostitutes. Additionally, 11 individuals were arrested for attempting to meet minors.

Judd noted that at least four people were identified as victims of human trafficking and received assistance.
