Mississippi Teacher Charged with Inappropriate Relationship
Authorities report that a special education teacher in Mississippi has been charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a minor student.
Natalia Elizabeth Wright, 31, recently resigned from Lewisburg High School in Desoto County following allegations of “inappropriate contact” with a student. However, weeks later, she was reportedly seen in a compromising situation with the boy outside a fast food restaurant. Additionally, they were spotted again near a Baptist church on the same day, as noted in the arrest affidavit.
Wright was arrested last Tuesday after her husband disclosed that he had previously kissed students during private lessons at their home.
She faces serious allegations, including having an inappropriate relationship with someone in her position of trust, which is classified as a felony in Mississippi.
The affidavit details that “Natalia Wright knowingly, unlawfully and feloniously committed… handled or touched the mouth… of a child under 18.”
Community members expressed their surprise that a teacher could not foresee the potential consequences of such actions. One local, Shirley Hendrix, commented, “You knew you were going to get caught sooner or later, so why are you putting your work at risk?”
The former teacher was released last week after posting a $200,000 bond and is set to appear in court on June 6th.
Desoto County Schools has not yet made a public statement regarding the situation and did not respond to requests for comment.
