Lake Norman road-rage murder suspect accused of killing a father of three daughters requests to be freed.

Bond Cuts Sought by Man Accused of Road Race Shooting

Charlotte, North Carolina – The individual charged with the murders of three fathers during a road race in Lake Norman, North Carolina, is attempting to reduce his bond. This information has surfaced through court filings and local reports.

Terrell Eugene Giddens, aged 75, reportedly shot and killed Jeffrey Michael Gidda, 40, just before 5 PM on October 12, 2024. Witnesses indicated that both men exited their vehicles moments before the shooting occurred. Additionally, some bystanders claimed to have seen three girls firing multiple rounds into the victim’s car, although they were unharmed in the incident, as confirmed by the Sheriff’s Office.

After the shooting, Giddens allegedly returned home, changed his clothes, and disposed of the original outfit in a garbage bag. He then took a kayak to Lake Norman, where he reportedly discarded the garbage bag and the rifle believed to be involved in the shooting.

Now Giddens’ attorney, Robert Campbell, has filed a new motion in Catawba County, arguing that Giddens is presumed innocent and has strong community ties. Remarkably, Giddens lived less than half a mile from where the crime took place.

According to court documents, Giddens had a long career with General Motors, retiring after 36 years. He was drafted into the Army in 1969 and served as a tank commander in Vietnam and Germany until he was honorably discharged in 1971.

Meanwhile, Guida’s family is actively rallying community support to prevent Giddens from being released. Karen Guida, Jeff’s wife, expressed outrage over his bond request, mentioning that her children witnessed the shooting. She has called for support in filling the courtroom during the upcoming proceedings.

Jeff Gida, originally from Lewiston, Maine, is remembered by his family as a devoted husband and loving father. Stories reflect that he enjoyed spending time with his children, along with hobbies such as hiking, traveling, and cooking.

Giddens faces serious charges, including first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder. He is currently being held without bond. Efforts from his attorney for a bond reduction are ongoing.
