On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt engaged with children during a special briefing event meant to celebrate family involvement at work. The kids asked various questions, many revolving around President Donald Trump. One child inquired about the president’s favorite ice cream, prompting Leavitt to reveal that he enjoys ice cream sundaes. They also wanted to know if he liked giving hugs, to which she responded affirmatively, noting that he has been seen hugging his family and the First Lady.
Another question from a child focused on the most enjoyable and challenging aspects of Leavitt’s role. She explained that interacting with kids and answering their queries was definitely the highlight of her job. Conversely, she mentioned that part of the challenge is having to respond to a myriad of questions, which can be overwhelming at times.
She added that staying informed through the news is a significant part of her daily responsibilities, describing how she begins each day by reviewing various media sources to understand what is being reported. When asked about the president’s favorite food, Leavitt said he prefers steaks.
One kid asked about the superpower Trump would choose if he could have one. Leavitt thought this was an interesting question and suggested that the president would like the ability to solve the nation’s problems with a snap of his fingers, though she acknowledged that things often take longer to resolve in reality.
First Lady Melania Trump also participated in the family-oriented event, spending time with her children outside the White House. Some kids wore dark blue hats emblazoned with “American Bay” in bright red letters, emphasizing the festive atmosphere of the day.
