Titan Coach Optimistic About Quarterback Competition
Brian Callahan, the head coach for the Titans, expressed satisfaction with the performance of quarterbacks Cam Ward and Will Levis during the recent spring sessions.
During a discussion with reporters on Tuesday, the second-year coach outlined his plans for the offseason while highlighting the training competition between Ward, the first overall pick in this year’s draft, and Revis, as they shared reps.
“I’m happy with their mindset and their effort. Will has shown great dedication to improving. I’ve been quite impressed with how he approached his work this offseason. Cam has also done well in integrating himself into the team,” Callahan noted.
As both quarterbacks continue their development this offseason, Callahan is focused on moving past a challenging 3-14 season.
“Right now, we’re more focused on ourselves than on any opponents. It’s standard for them to be working on various skills at this time of year,” he mentioned.
Ward, 22, has been a long-standing favorite for the Titans, and the organization notably turned down trade offers for the top pick prior to the draft.
Will Levis, who was drafted in the second round in 2023, stepped up as the starting quarterback during his rookie season, though his journey has had its ups and downs.
In his 12 games last season, Levis recorded 2,091 yards, with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He is now working with personal quarterback coach Jordan Palmer to enhance his skills this offseason.
The Titans are set to face the Broncos in their first week of the upcoming season.
