Hawaiian Airlines flight surrounded after passenger heard making threats in San Diego

Hawaiian Airlines Plane Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat

Authorities responded rapidly to a Hawaiian Airlines flight at San Diego International Airport shortly before its scheduled departure. Reports indicate that an emergency vehicle surrounded the aircraft linked to Honolulu, with law enforcement escorting a man from flight 15 around 8:30 AM local time.

Witness Isai Solorzano, a naval sailor, described the scene, stating, “A man stood up; they immediately told him to turn around and handcuff him. They took him away.” Another passenger shared an image showing the individual being handcuffed as he was led off the plane.

According to San Diego Harbor police, a bomb threat was made concerning the plane, separate from the jet bridge. A flight attendant alerted the captain after passengers mentioned the potential threat.

“During the pushback from the gate, we heard guests raise concerns about the safety of the aircraft,” a spokesperson for Hawaiian Airlines explained.

The airline’s captain promptly moved the Airbus A330 to a secure area on the airfield, where local and federal law enforcement responded, ensuring the safety of all passengers.

After a thorough search of the aircraft, law enforcement cleared it, allowing passengers to depart approximately five hours later than originally planned.

The FBI noted that it could not provide further details as the investigation continues. An FBI representative emphasized the importance of public vigilance, urging individuals to report any suspicious activities to authorities immediately.
