DHS conducts a significant early morning operation, apprehending 12 members of a transnational gang in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Crackdown Leads to 12 Arrests of Wanted Criminals

In a significant operation in Los Angeles on Tuesday, authorities arrested 12 individuals wanted for their involvement in severe assaults on aviation agencies, spearheaded by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

This operation, dubbed “Operation Supper’s Ready,” culminated after almost two years of investigation targeting criminal networks that, as officials argue, are causing chaos and exploiting the United States.

Multiple suspects now face charges including attempted murder, conspiracy, and fraud. One of the schemes reportedly swindled $83 million via Amazon products.

Bill Essay, a U.S. attorney in California’s Central District, emphasized the administration’s focus on dismantling cross-border criminal organizations. He stated, “We’re pursuing violent crime and ensuring that the most dangerous figures are removed from our communities.” The gangs involved in this operation primarily originate from Armenia but include members from Iran and Azerbaijan, with operations that link to the Mexican mafia.

Some of these gangs have been allegedly terrorizing local neighborhoods, including instances of violence documented on video. Essay expressed concern about the ongoing threat posed by these groups, describing the Armenian gang in particular as a source of fear in the community.

During a raid, DHS gained exclusive access to the apprehension of one suspect at his home in an affluent area of Los Angeles. A luxury SUV was reportedly parked outside.

Areg Bezik is accused of creating a fraudulent delivery service that handled millions in stolen goods, including electronics and beauty products, which he stored for resale. “This individual is on a visa and engaged in a considerable amount of illegal activity,” Essay added. If found guilty, he could face deportation.

The operation also resulted in the capture of suspects linked to rival gangs, known as the “Amilian Organized Crime Group” and “Artuni Enterprises,” who are said to be engaging in violent conflicts in California and Florida.

In a show of force, law enforcement officials revealed the chaotic atmosphere during the processing of the captured suspects. Tensions ran high as individuals displayed aggressive behavior, which required intervention from authorities.

The DHS noted that under the Trump administration, operations like these have gained momentum, allowing law enforcement to focus on criminals more effectively. “Our capacity to confront these gangs where they live has improved,” stated Dwayne Angebrandt, the Associate Special Agent in Charge.

Authorities seized cash, three armored vehicles, and a total of 14 firearms during the operation, with additional serious repercussions expected for those arrested. Convictions could mean substantial prison time, along with possible deportation for non-citizen offenders.

Interestingly, the name “Operation Supper’s Ready” was inspired by a photo of some suspects socializing at what appeared to be a “mob-style” dinner, raising eyebrows about the nature of their enterprise.
