Nancy Mace Seeks to Remove Congresswoman Charged with Assaulting ICE Agents

Republican Rep. Nancy Mace Proposes Expulsion of Democrat Lamonica McQuiver

On Wednesday, South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace announced her intention to file a resolution aimed at expelling New Jersey Democrat Lamonica McQuiver from Congress. This move follows claims from the Justice Department regarding McQuiver’s alleged assault on law enforcement earlier this month.

Mace expressed her thoughts on X, stating, “Attacking federal agents is a simple and straightforward crime. No one is beyond the law. Americans deserve better.”

According to reports, Mace has opted not to press for an immediate vote on the resolution but plans to have the House Ethics Committee review it. This initiative comes in light of allegations that McQuiver was involved in an altercation with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer, as indicated by body-cam footage.

In response to the proposed resolution, McQuiver rejected the accusations, claiming she was the one attacked, and made a comment on X, saying something akin to, “In the South, I’ll say, ‘Bless her heart.’”

Mace isn’t alone in her efforts against McQuiver. Republican colleague William Timmons has also criticized her and is pushing for an investigation by the House Ethics Committee. Additionally, Republican Rep. Buddy Carter from Georgia is advocating to strip McQuiver of her committee positions, along with two other Democratic representatives.
