Trump’s Plan for Gaza Essential for Ending the Conflict

Netanyahu’s Stance on Gaza Conflict

In an unusual press conference, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared his view that a new proposal, which he described as “very right and revolutionary,” could be essential for concluding the war in Gaza.

During his address from Jerusalem on Wednesday, Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s organized strategy. He confirmed the survival of at least 20 hostages and expressed a willingness to consider a temporary ceasefire for their safe release, but he stressed that military action against Hamas would continue unabated.

“The tanks of Operation Gideon have been active for three days now. Just ask the residents of the Cedrot and Gaza regions; their homes are shaking from the might of the IDF’s fire,” he stated.

Reaffirming Israel’s dominance in Gaza, he stated that all territories are ultimately under Israeli control. “Our forces are taking over more areas in Gaza. Eventually, the entire strip will be under our security oversight, and Hamas will be completely defeated,” he promised.

In response to calls for an end to the war, Netanyahu asserted he would “end the war under specific conditions that guarantee Israel’s security.”

On Monday, he addressed requests from leaders in the UK, Canada, and France via a post on social media, who advocated for a ceasefire and renewed efforts towards Palestinian statehood amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas.

“By demanding a Palestinian state and expecting Israel to stop its defensive measures before neutralizing Hamas threats, these leaders risk encouraging further atrocities,” he remarked.

Netanyahu also reiterated his support for former President Donald Trump’s peace initiative, which aimed to turn Gaza’s coastline into an economic hub, providing locals with options to migrate for better opportunities.

“Israel backs President Trump’s vision and encourages all European leaders to do likewise,” Netanyahu stated. “The war could conclude tomorrow if the remaining hostages are released, Hamas ceases its attacks, and we remove the terrorist leaders in Gaza.”

The Prime Minister insisted that Israel is determined to achieve a “complete victory” and voiced criticism against calls for a ceasefire.

“The state cannot settle for anything less, and Israel won’t either,” he asserted. “This is a civilized conflict against barbaric assaults. Israel will defend itself decisively until ultimate victory is attained.”

His statements underscore a strong belief that lasting peace cannot stem from compromises with terrorism, amidst growing international diplomatic pressure on Israel during this prolonged conflict.

This comes at a time when discussions around Trump’s initiative are resurfacing. Back in February, Trump presented a plan alongside Netanyahu, proposing the relocation of Gaza’s population while redeveloping the area into a “free zone.”

Following the announcement, Israel established a unit within the Defense Ministry to oversee this initiative. The Minister expressed support for Trump’s bold proposal, describing it as an opportunity for Gazans to rebuild their lives and contribute to Israel’s lasting peace.

Public support for Trump’s vision seems to be developing. A survey indicated many Gazans favor relocation, alongside reports suggesting this policy could ease tensions, diminish Hamas’s influence, and distribute humanitarian responsibilities among Arab nations.

“If you move people to different countries, you create a ‘free zone,’” Trump noted, emphasizing that Gaza’s future should be fearless. Netanyahu echoed this sentiment, asking, “What’s wrong with giving people a choice?”

Additionally, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar characterized voluntary migration as “the most moral and humane action,” with various nations reportedly showing readiness to accept residents from Gaza.
