A tragic incident occurred on Friday, leaving a 4-year-old boy without his parents. Hours apart, both parents were involved in separate car accidents in Louisiana. The mother was reportedly struck by a vehicle, while the father was racing to the scene when he lost control of his car, according to officials.
Alexus Lee, 25, and John “Junior” Collins, 35, were engaged and shared a toddler, Gabriel. They were both pronounced dead at the respective crash scenes, as informed by the Louisiana State Police.
Collins’ father, Arthur Collins, expressed his grief, stating, “I love them, and I miss both of them. I’m going to find the power to move on.”
Police reported that Lee was driving a 2013 Toyota Highlander around 2 AM on LA 67 when she veered off the road, hitting a dark vehicle and flipping the SUV.
Upon learning about the incident, Collins jumped into a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro to rush to the site but lost control as he approached a curve and ended up leaving the road, colliding with a tree and being thrown from the vehicle.
Both Lee and Collins were not wearing seat belts at the time of their accidents, officials stated.
Collins’ mother, Sandra, shared her memories, saying, “He loved Alexus and everyone who knew her. To know her was to love her.” The couple had tied the knot in February 2026, with their young son left behind.
Sandra Collins emotionally recounted how Gabriel is processing the loss, saying, “He understands what happened and has a bit of a problem knowing we can’t talk to them. We can’t see them, but he understands they are asleep and with God.” Both families have committed to caring for Gabriel.
