Tax Cuts in GOP Bill Are Insufficient for Working Families, Biden and Democrats Have Improved Lives

Wasserman Schultz Critiques Republican Tax Bills

During a segment on News Nation’s “Balance,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) criticized Republican tax and spending proposals, describing them as offering mere “crumbs” to working and low-income families. She asserted that former President Joe Biden and the Democrats have made significant improvements for these groups.

Wasserman Schultz pointed out, “We’re moving healthcare away from nearly 14 million people. Those are real numbers from the CBO. They’ve cut the largest nutritional aid in American history. And all of this is to provide tax credits that predominantly benefit billionaires, while only tossing a few crumbs to families who work hard for several years.”

In response, host Leland Vittert noted, “Increased child tax credits, bonuses for seniors, tips, overtime pay, and even taxes on car loan payments. Doesn’t sound like breadcrumbs to me.”

Wasserman Schultz countered, “Many of these credits expired. They are offset by Trump’s tariffs and premium tax credits, which merely increase healthcare costs for people. And these temporary extensions for working families will also expire in two years, while tax breaks for billionaires are made permanent.”

She concluded, “Joe Biden provided Donald Trump with a strong economy, the most effective one globally, post-COVID. Biden and the Democratic Congress have truly improved life for working families and have significantly reduced middle-class taxes over an extended period.”
